Current Job Opportunities

The Strahl Lab is always interested in highly motivated individuals to join our team. We offer a unique opportunity for inquisitive researchers to advance our understanding of chromatin regulation while training for the next steps. We are continually seeking enthusiastic individuals to join us in this exciting field of study. Whether you are a postdoc, graduate student, or aspiring undergraduate researcher, we offer a dynamic environment for professional growth and scientific discovery.

Postdoctoral Research

We welcome postdoctoral applicants with a strong publication record and some experience in molecular biology and/or biochemistry. Prior experience in molecular & cellular techniques and/or chromatin biology is not a strict requirement. We are primarily interested in candidates with a high training potential who are eager and motivated to develop new skills and contribute to groundbreaking research.

UNC offers an outstanding environment to further your postdoctoral studies, with access to world-class core facilities, expert epigenetic faculty for collaboration, and a supportive community in Chapel Hill. Currently, UNC offers several NIH funded postdoctoral training programs for independent funding. One program, in particular, is the UNC SPIRE Training Program, which is aimed at postdocs interested in combining research with teaching development, this program offers a balance between academic growth and educational training.

Prospective graduate students interested in joining the Strahl lab must first apply through UNC’s Biological & Biomedical Sciences Program (BBSP). For students already accepted or currently in the program, the Strahl lab provides an ideal environment to explore chromatin biology and histone modifications. Undergraduate Students

The Strahl lab has had a long history of training undergraduate researchers (well over 60). Our students are highly successful in launching to the next career step, whether it is medical school or graduate school. We are very selective on who we take: we seek highly motivated students who want to join our lab for their undergraduate career. It takes time for us to train and for you to learn, which is why the best outcome is one when a student is dedicated to making progress in one lab while conducting their scholarly work. These students typically spend ~20 hours a week in the lab and receive research for credit. If you think you are up for a challenge and would like to make an impact on science, feel free to contact us.

Overall, UNC and the Strahl lab offer a vibrant scientific environment, making it an exceptional place to build a career in the biomedical sciences.
